Embodiment Construction

[0036] The sprinkler of the described embodiments results in a lower cost pop-up sprinkler that can be configured as a spinner (ie, incorporating a brake to control the speed of rotation) or a spinner (ie, free-spinning). Sprinklers include modular components so nozzles, deflectors and braking functions can be varied to user specifications. In the spinner configuration, the pop-up baffle may engage the brake assembly in the extended position. A brake module is secured to the sprinkler body and includes a rotatable connector coupled with the brake assembly. A pop-up baffle is positioned adjacent the nozzle and engages the rotatable connector in the extended position. With modular construction, the brake assembly is interchangeable with the rotator assembly. Additionally, the nozzle modules may be provided with or without flow control structures, and are similarly interchangeable with alternative nozzle modules. Still further, the baffles can be interchanged with alternative ...

Abstract

A sprinkler includes a pop-up deflector plate that is engageable with a brake assembly in an extended position. A brake module is secured to a sprinkler body and includes a rotatable connector coupled with the brake assembly. The pop-up deflector plate is disposed adjacent the nozzle and engages the rotatable connector in the extended position.

Description

technical field [0001] This application is a continuation-in-part (CIP) of pending US Patent Application No. 16 / 521,785 filed on July 25, 2019, which is US Patent Application No. 16 / 521,785 filed on November 30, 2016 Continuing application 15 / 365,461, US Patent Application No. 15 / 365,461, issued September 3, 2019, is now US Patent No. 10,399,108, each of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. [0002] The present invention relates to a modular industrial sprinkler including a pop-up deflector, and more particularly, to a selectively configurable pop-up deflector having a pop-up deflector operable as a rotator or spinner Sprinkler assembly. Background technique [0003] Industrial sprinklers with exposed nozzles may be prone to clogging due to debris that may collect in or around the nozzle. Clogged nozzles can adversely affect sprinkler patterns and make cleaning and maintenance time consuming. Debris can similarly collect around the turning baffles, w...
