According to the method, for each component attribute in a processed to-be-detected electromagnetic signal, a target kurtosis index corresponding to the component attribute is obtained, and whether the target kurtosis index is within a kurtosis index range corresponding to the component attribute is judged; the kurtosis index range corresponding to each component attribute is that kurtosis index calculation is carried out on each component attribute in multiple groups of fault-free electromagnetic signals of the contactor or the circuit breaker, W inspection is carried out based on a calculation result, and when an inspection result meets a preset requirement, the kurtosis index range corresponding to each component attribute is determined according to a kurtosis index calculation result; and if the target kurtosis indexes corresponding to not all the component attributes are within the corresponding kurtosis index ranges, determining that the to-be-detected electromagnetic signal is a fault signal.
