Abstract

The present teachings generally include techniques for characterizing the health (e.g., gastrointestinal health) of an animal using image analysis (e.g., of a fecal sample) as a supplement, alternative or alternative to biological specimen sequencing. The present teachings may also include or alternatively include techniques for personalizing health and healthcare plans, including, but not limited to, dietary supplements, such as customized recipes based on health evaluations, where such health and healthcare plans may be based on one or more of the health characterization techniques described herein.
