The invention relates to a device and a method for transporting containers, preferably in a beverage filling installation, comprising a transport wheel having: a central coupling which is designed to fix the transport wheel on a central rotating shaft such that a rotation of the central rotating shaft about its axis of rotation can be transmitted to the transport wheel; a plurality of discs which are concentrically stacked one above the other in the axial direction with respect to the axis of rotation and each have at least one recess, which together form a receiving region provided on the outer circumference of the transfer wheel and which is designed to at least partially receive a container, wherein at least one of the disks is a fixed disk which is fixed relative to the coupling via a support structure, and at least one of the disks is an adjusting disk which is rotatably supported relative to the fixed disk about a rotational axis; the adjusting mechanism is designed to enable the adjusting disc to rotate relative to the fixed disc at an adjusting angle, and therefore the size of the containing area can be adjusted.
