Abstract

The present invention relates to a low-voltage cell detection method and a battery management system providing the same, and the battery management system for managing a battery by detecting a low-voltage cell according to the present invention comprises: a cell monitoring IC, a plurality of voltage sensors connected to respective ends of the plurality of battery cells so as to measure a cell voltage and a battery current of each of the plurality of battery cells; and a main control circuit for calculating the SOC of each of the plurality of battery cells based on the measured cell voltage and / or battery current of each of the plurality of battery cells, the main control circuit compares a difference between a first SOC of each of the plurality of battery cells calculated before a service of the vehicle is stopped and a second SOC of each of the plurality of battery cells calculated in synchronization with a time at which the service of the vehicle is recovered with a predetermined discharge threshold. Whether each of the plurality of battery cells has a low voltage is determined according to a result of the comparison, whereby a low-voltage cell is detected, and the discharge threshold is based on a change in SOC of a normal cell during a period in which the vehicle operation is stopped.
