Abstract

Disclosed are a secondary battery and a battery pack including the same. According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a secondary battery in which a short-circuit member housed in an outer case and having conductivity is attached to a separator in an electrode assembly, in which the short-circuit member is separated from a positive electrode tab and a negative electrode tab at a temperature below a predetermined temperature, and the short-circuit member is in contact with the positive tab and the negative tab by contraction of the diaphragm to which the short-circuit member is attached at a temperature equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature, thereby electrically connecting the positive tab to the negative tab.
