[0040] In the following description, various aspects of the present disclosure will be described. For purposes of explanation, specific configurations and details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of various aspects of the present disclosure. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present disclosure may be practiced without the specific details presented herein. Additionally, well-known features may be omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the disclosure.

[0041]Disclosed herein is a system and method for guiding the insertion of an insertable medical device (eg, a tube, such as a feeding tube). The disclosed system can be used as an insertion device positioning guide system. The system can be used to track and indicate the location of the inserted medical device in real time during the insertion procedure. As one example, the system may track and indicate the position of the feeding tube tip as the feeding tube i...

Abstract

Provided herein is a device, system and method for guiding the insertion of an insertion tube into a patient implanted with an implantable device capable of interfering with an electromagnetic field generated on the torso of the patient, the guiding comprising: receiving a signal relating to a change in the electromagnetic field, these changes are caused by insertion of a gastrointestinal tube comprising an electromagnetic sensor; the received signal is normalized based on information about the implantable device and its interference with the electromagnetic field, and the position of the gastrointestinal tube is determined based on the normalized signal.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus, system, and method for guide tube positioning, and in particular, to an apparatus for taking into account electromagnetic field disturbances caused by implanted devices based on sensing of induced electromagnetic field changes Apparatus, systems and methods to guide tube positioning. Background technique [0002] Enteral feeding is often used as nutritional support for patients who cannot otherwise feed. Despite the many benefits of early initiation of enteral feeding, misplacement of the feeding tube is relatively common and can lead to patient discomfort and complications. Confirming the position of the tube after it has already been intubated can delay feeding and delay the initiation of hydration or medication. A bedside electromagnetic (EM) system for guiding placement of nasoenteric feeding tubes can be used and utilized by medical personnel to avoid feeding tube misalignment during ...
