Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for metering a biocide entering a fluid. The present invention generally utilizes a biofilm sensor configured to measure the amount of biofilm on the biofilm sensor. The method according to the invention identifies a minimum in a data set representing measurements of the biofilm sensor over time if a minimum is present, and identifies an inflection point if a minimum is identified. According to some embodiments, when the inflection point has been identified as appearing in time after the identified minimum, it is determined that the metering of the biocide is effective.
