Abstract

The invention provides a method for establishing a chicken methylation clock. The method comprises the following steps: (a) determining a methylation rate and reading coverage of a genome CpG site of an age-related training sample of a specific chicken tissue; (b) defining a group of CpG loci with reliable methylation rate in all the training samples in the step (a) by using a cutoff value; and (c) performing penalty regression by applying a penalty regression model and taking the methylation rate in the step (b) as input and the age related to the training sample as a dependent variable, a set of CpG loci having respective weighting factors and intercept of the linear model equation are obtained as parameters defining the chicken methylation clock.
