Abstract

Provided are a data synchronization method and device for a digital multimedia data receiver. The method includes: determining whether to use a program clock reference value or an object clock reference value; if it is determined that a program clock reference value is used, then referring to a clock obtained by dividing a system clock of the receiver into the program clock reference, to synchronizing the audio and video data; and if it is determined that the object clock reference value is used, synchronizing the audio and video data with reference to a clock output from the system timing clock counter to which the object clock reference value is periodically set. In the data synchronization method and apparatus, PCR or OCR information received from a multimedia broadcasting system can be used to simply and efficiently synchronize clocks and audio and video data of sending and receiving parties.
