2656 results about "Multimedia broadcasting" patented technology

Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is a method of bringing multimedia images, radio, Internet, and television to portable devices through digital radio transmissions. It can be transmitted through both satellite (DMB-S) and terrestrial (DMB-T) methods.

Architecture and provisioning tools for managed multicast virtual private LAN trees

Methods, tools, and a multicast connectivity architecture are provided for provisioning bundled high bandwidth multi-channel multimedia broadcast services over a packet switched communications network. Multicast group membership join/prune requests generated by the destination network nodes are processed on edge. Multicast tree connectivity in the core of the communications network is static and centrally provisioned based on multicast group member edge network nodes associated with subscribers, while dynamic multicasting techniques are employed over the distribution portion of the service provider's communications network to deliver requested content to each destination network node. The methods and tools compute multicast trees, configure on-tree branching network nodes, and establish Virtual Private LAN network overlays for channel bundles to convey multi-channel content in the core of the managed communications network between edge network nodes. Centralized multicast tree provisioning enables the use of efficient multicast tree topologies, while VPLS packet transport provides interoperability between disparate Layer-2 packet transport technologies employed in different portions of the communications network.

Synchronous processing method based on CMMB signals

The invention provides a synchronous processing method based on new CMMB (China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) synchronous signals. The CMMB synchronous signals comprise first training sequences and second training sequences; the first training sequences comprise CAZAC (Constant Amplitude Zero Auto Correlation) sequences, and the second training sequences comprise PN (Pseudo-Noise) sequences; in the synchronous processing method, the CAZAC sequences are utilized to achieve coarse symbol timing offset estimation and decimal frequency offset coarse estimation; the PN sequences are utilized to achieve the estimation of strongest path time delay in multipath, and the multipath is taken as coarse symbol timing positioning; the CAZAC sequences and the PN sequences are utilized to achieve the integer frequency offset estimation; the fast Fourier transform (FFT) is performed on the PN sequences to achieve the channel response estimation so as to estimate a first path time delay and achieve the fine symbol timing position estimation; and a maximum likelihood (ML) criterion is utilized to process the PN sequences in the second training sequences to obtain the decimal frequency offset fine estimation. The synchronous processing method can effectively improve the synchronous accuracy and can achieve better synchronization performance in the mobile communication environment with low signal-to-noise ratio.

Streaming content management apparatus and method

A streaming content management apparatus and method for recording and replaying video and audio data using a real time video indexing function are provided. A streaming content management apparatus of a multimedia broadcast receiver includes a recording unit for recording an incoming content stream in units of segment together with indexes and a player for replaying the content stream recorded by the recording unit in response to an index that is input to request playback from a segment corresponding to the input index. The streaming content management apparatus divides the streaming content incoming through a broadcast channel in units of segment and stores segments of the streaming content with storage index and chapter information such that it is possible to quickly retrieve a playback position using the storage index or chapter information.

Method and apparatus for identifying a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) area in a wireless communication system

A method and eMBMS-enabled infrastructure device are disclosed that provide an updated mechanism for a client, or user equipment (UE), to report its location such that an eMBMS-enabled application desiring eMBMS location information can uniquely identify the MBSFN in which the UE is located. The method and eMBMS-enabled infrastructure device identify an eMBMS area associated with a user equipment UE by receiving, from the UE, a Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) Area update message from a user equipment, wherein the MBSFN Area update message uniquely identifies an MBSFN Area and includes an extension identifier derived from one or more of a cell identifier, an eNodeB identifier, an identifier of a group of cells, a service identifier, a tracking area identifier, and a paging area identifier, and optionally further may include an MBSFN AreaID, and determining an MBSFN Area serving the user equipment based on the received eMBMS area identifier.
