Problems solved by technology

[0024] Unfortunately, existing systems and methods do not support the transition from base stations that support ESN-based long code masking to base stations that support base station assigned long code masking schemes
In particular, problems arise when a mobile station enters a communication network that should not use the long code masking scheme assigned by the base station, but the mobile station uses the long code masking scheme assigned by the base station

Embodiment Construction

[0054] To aid in describing the present invention, certain exemplary parameter names, values, lengths and other characteristics are used to describe channels, messages and identifiers, fixed or variable, for communications between mobile stations and base stations. It should be noted that the above parameter names are for illustrative purposes only, and other names may be used to describe the same or similar functions.

[0055] According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for generating PLCM based on ESN is called PLCM_37_ESN. Also, a method of generating the least significant 37 bits of PLCM based on, for example, the least significant 32 bits provided to the mobile terminal by a base station (BS) is called PLCM_37_BS.

[0056] One or more embodiments of the invention are illustrated using the terminology defined above as applicable to PLCMs comprising 37 bits. It is worth noting that the exemplary embodiments described above should not be construed as limit...

Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for generating a public long code mask in a mobile communication system is provided to add new fields to a message, thereby changing a method for generating a public long code mask by using an ESN(Electronic Serial Number) into a method for generating the public long code mask by using the least significant 32 bits assigned by a base station. CONSTITUTION: The least significant bits of a public long code mask are generated by either a method for using an ESN according to a public long code mask type within the first message or a method for using the least significant bits for the public long code mask within the first message. The methods for generating the least significant bits of the public long code mask according to a value set in one field within the second message are changed into other methods.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a system and method for generating a common long code mask (PLCM) in a mobile communication system. Background technique [0002] In the field of cellular communications, the terms 1G, 2G and 3G are commonly used by those skilled in the art. The term refers to the generation of cellular technology used. 1G refers to the first generation, 2G refers to the second generation, and 3G refers to the third generation. [0003] 1G is used to refer to an analog telephone system, known as the AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone Service) telephone system. 2G is commonly used to refer to digital cellular systems throughout the world, and includes CDMAOne, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). 2G systems can support a larger number of users than 1G systems in densely populated areas. [0004] 3G is often used to refer to digital cellular systems currently under development. Recently, th...
