Abstract

A communication protocol for use between a location-location server and a wireless communication device provides messages in ubiquitous Extensible Markup Language (XML) to communicate between the location-location server and the wireless communication device via a wireless communication network. between communication devices. Specifically, the location location server composes a location location request and sends the request to a wireless communication device. The request seeks information from the wireless communication device, and may include information related to the wireless communication device's position, altitude, velocity, and bearing. In turn, the wireless communication device provides a position location response including the requested information. Additionally, information related to the accuracy of the location and positioning information may be included in the response to improve any predictive metrics later determined by the location location server.
