Embodiment Construction

[0035] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in which the same or similar components are denoted by like reference symbols. Also, detailed descriptions of known functions and constructions that may unnecessarily obscure the gist of the invention will be omitted.

[0036] FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an example of a network structure with at least one path for a particular destination.

[0037] In FIG. 1 , router 20 selects the best route with the lowest cost for each of source 12 and source 14 . The route of the source 12 can be preset as first network 16 -router 20 -third network 32 -destination 36, or as first network 16-router 20-fourth network 34-destination 36. Likewise, the route of the source 14 can be preset as second network 18 -router 20 -third network 32 -destination 36, or as second network 18-router 20-fourth network 34-destination 36.

Abstract

A network routing method for preventing packet drop or loss comprises the steps of presetting best and second routes for the same destination, determining a route for an inputted packet with reference to the preset best and second routes, selectively queuing the inputted packet to respective output queues of the preset best and second routes in accordance with whether there is congestion in the output queues of the preset best and second routes, and sequentially queuing the packets stored in the output queues of the preset best and second routes, and transporting same to output ports of corresponding routes, in accordance with an order of input thereof. A network routing apparatus comprises a forwarding table, a forwarding section, a queue management section, and a transport section for use in performing functions corresponding to the above steps.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a network routing method and device, and more particularly, to a network routing method and device for transmitting Internet Protocol (IP) packets through a queue temporarily storing IP packets through a preset routing path. Store overloaded IP packets to reduce subsequent IP packet loss. Background technique [0002] With the current rapid growth of Internet users, various services provided, and practical expansion of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), etc., traffic on the Internet increases exponentially. Therefore, in order to transmit IP packets to their corresponding destinations on the Internet, especially in the case of tens of gigabit or terabyte-class high-speed routers, there is no time delay between retrieving the corresponding packets in the shortest lookup time. Destination path, and forwarding it. For this reason, functions such as maintaining the shortest path (routing or forwarding) table, effectivel...
