CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0001] This application is a continuation of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 10 / 121,518, filed Apr. 12, 2002, now allowed.BACKGROUND [0002] The present invention is directed to gel materials and medical articles incorporating such materials, particularly medical articles useful as wound dressings. More particularly this invention is directed to gel materials prepared from a multifunctional poly(alkylene oxide) macromonomer. [0003] Historically, exudate from a wound has been treated by absorbing it using a dressing containing an absorbent material. Typical such dressings contain a padded absorbent material attached to an adhesive tape backing. The padded absorbent material is applied to the wound to absorb the wound exudate.
