Benefits of technology

[0009]The present invention provides an interface device between an element for retaining a boot and a gliding board, which makes it possible to overcome the limitations of the devices known in the prior art. More particularly, the invention provides an interface device between an element for retaining a boot and a gliding board that raises the boot, does not change the behavior of the gliding board, especially in flexion, and improves the behavior of the gliding board, thus enabling a precise steering of the gliding board, a better grip over its entire length, while enhancing the reactive capabilities of the gliding board.

Problems solved by technology

Furthermore, they are often designed so that the retaining elements hinder the flexion of the ski as little as possible.
However, the transmission of sensory information between the ski and the skier is not good because all forces are transmitted through the central portion of the plate.
This causes a lack of precision in guiding / steering the ski.
Furthermore, during skiing, the central area of the plate causes an uneven distribution of the forces exerted by the ski to the snow.
This also negatively affects the behavior of the ski, especially edge settings.
Thus, the retaining elements have a limited influence on the flexing of the ski.
However, such a construction does not completely solve the problem of precision in guiding / steering the ski.
However, having grooves negatively affects the ski guiding / steering precision.

first embodiment

[0037]FIG. 2 illustrates an interface device 51 according to the invention. The interface device 51 includes a front portion 9 and a rear portion 10, which are connected to one another via a central portion 11. It includes a raising platform 71 and a longitudinal stiffener 61. The raising platform 71 is an element made of plastic material, such as polyurethane, e.g., which is manufactured by injection molding. Alternatively, within the scope of the invention, the material used for making the raising platform could be another plastic material, or other suitable material.

[0038]The raising platform includes a plurality of notches 14, 141, which enable the platform to follow the flexion movements of the ski. These notches do not extend through the thickness of the platform, but open out onto each lateral side of the raising platform. The notches 14, 141 can advantageously be replaced by any other structure or means for increasing the flexibility of the platform.

second embodiment

[0043]FIG. 4 illustrates the invention. The interface device 52 includes a front portion 91 and a rear portion 101. The rear portion 101 is made as a conventional interface, that is, without a stiffener. This is a raising element achieved by plastic injection molding. The rear portion 101 is fixed to the gliding board by four screws.

[0044]In order to prevent the rear portion 101 from hindering the flexing of the ski board, two rear screws 25 of the rear portion 101 are movable in longitudinal translation with respect to the rear portion 101, whereas two front screws 24 are fixed.

[0045]For the rear screws 25 to be movable in translation with respect to the rear portion 101, they are positioned in a slide 26, which can move in translation in a housing extending through the end of the rear portion 101. The slide 26 includes a block on which a plate 27 is positioned, the lateral wings of the plate27 being supported on the rear rails 28 of the rear portion 101.

[0046]The rear portion 101 ...

third embodiment

[0060]FIGS. 7, 8, and 9 illustrate the invention. FIG. 7 shows a transverse cross-sectional view of the gliding board, to which an interface device is fixed. The latter includes a raising platform 73 and a longitudinal stiffener 63 positioned beneath the raising platform 73. FIG. 8 shows a partial longitudinal cross section of the gliding board.

[0061]The raising platform 73 includes two independent arms 153, 163 on each of which is arranged a rail used for fixing the retaining elements. The raising platform 73 also includes a plurality of pins 173, which project downward, extending through openings provided in the stiffener, and allowing anchoring the interface device in the structure of the gliding board. Each pin includes a recess to improve the strength of the anchoring in the core of the gliding board. The core 34 is made of a foam, which, when hardening, fills up the space included between the upper sub-assembly 32 and the lower sub-assembly 33.

Abstract

An interface device between an element for retaining a boot and a gliding board, the interface device including a raising platform having an upper surface with at least one zone for receiving the retaining element, as well as a lower surface; a planar longitudinal stiffener having a thickness less than the thickness of the raising platform, the longitudinal stiffener being positioned beneath the raising platform. The raising platform includes two parallel rails on which the retaining element of the boot can slide. The longitudinal stiffener includes a first planar portion sandwiched between the raising platform and the upper surface of the gliding board, and the planar portion is parallel to the upper surface of the gliding board. The invention also includes a gliding board equipped with the interface device, as well as a method of manufacturing a gliding apparatus that includes the interface device.

Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION[0001]This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119 of French Patent Application No. 06.01215, filed on Feb. 10, 2006, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference thereto in its entirety.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION[0002]1. Field of the Invention[0003]The invention relates to an interface device between a gliding board and a binding element for a boot that is mounted on the gliding board. The invention also relates to a gliding board equipped with such an interface.[0004]2. Description of Background and Relevant Information[0005]Interface devices between an element for retaining a boot and a gliding board, such as between a binding and a ski, are known from the prior art. They are especially used to isolate the retaining elements from the gliding board and to enable the boot to be elevated. Furthermore, they are often designed so that the retaining elements hinder the flexion of the ski as little as possible.[0006]The docu...
