Benefits of technology

The patent text describes a server device, communication terminal, and computer-readable medium for the communication terminal that allows a server to calculate a shared-ride section without adding burden to users or drivers of paid vehicles. The server also calculates the percentage of fare to be paid by individual users based on the distance they travel. The communication terminal communicates with the server device. The technical effect is a more efficient and accurate way to calculate shared-ride sections and fare payments.

Problems solved by technology

However, several issues exists with this technique.
In the case where each user orally informs the taxi driver of the riding position and destination, the taxi driver needs to inform the taxi dispatch center of the riding positions and destinations of the individual users, which may increase the burden on the taxi driver and result in mistakes made for various reasons, including because the taxi driver forgot to report the information to the taxi dispatch center, there was a misunderstanding and / or miscommunication between the passengers and the taxi driver and / or the taxi dispatch center, or the like.
Further, even in the case where the distance traveled by a shared ride is longer than necessary compared to the distance traveled without a shared ride, the percentage of fare to be paid by each user is determined simply in accordance with the distance traveled by the user, and thus the fare is not fairly divided.

Abstract

A server device includes an identification information obtaining unit, a position information specifying unit, a storage unit, a percentage calculating unit, and a fare calculating unit. The identification information obtaining unit obtains operation identification information for identifying an operation of a vehicle and user identification information for identifying users who utilize the operation. The position information specifying unit specifies riding position information and drop off position information on the individual users. The storage unit stores the operation identification information, the user identification information, the riding position information, and the drop off position information in association with one another. The percentage calculating unit calculates percentages of an operation fare for the operation to be paid by the individual users. The fare calculating unit calculates amounts to be paid by the individual users.
