Devices and methods for tissue acquisition and fixation, or gastroplasty, are described. Generally, the devices of the system may be advanced in a minimally invasive manner within a patient's body to create one or more plications within the hollow body organ. A tissue treatment device attached to a distal end of a flexible elongated member and has a cartridge member opposite an anvil member. The cartridge member and the anvil member are movable between a closed position and an open position relative to one another, and the cartridge member is re-loadable with a removable staple cartridge to form multiple plications within the organ with the same tissue treatment device.

A system and method are described for tissue treating tissue within a hollow organ. The system may include a foam body having an operative shape adapted to fill at least a portion of the hollow organ, the foam body including a fluid retaining portion formed of a material selected to retain therein an electrically conductive fluid. The fluid retaining component includes at least one contacting portion which, when the foam body is inserted into the hollow organ in a desired position, contacts a target portion of tissue placing the fluid in contact with selected portions of an inner surface of the hollow organ when the foam body is in the operative shape.

An electrosurgical instrument for the treatment of tissue in the presence of an electrically-conductive fluid medium comprises an instrument shaft (10), and an electrode assembly (12) at one end of the shaft. The electrode assembly (12) comprises a tissue treatment electrode (14) and a return electrode (18) which is electrically insulated from the tissue treatment electrode by means of an insulation member (16). The tissue treatment electrode (14) has an exposed surface for treating tissue, and the return electrode (18) has a fluid contact surface so as to define, in use, a conductive fluid path that completes an electrical circuit between the tissue treatment electrode and the return electrode. The tissue treatment electrode (14) is provided with at least one aperture (14a) through which vapour bubbles and/or particulate material can be aspirated from the region surrounding the tissue treatment electrode, and the tissue treatment electrode and the insulation member are disposed such that there is a gap therebetween forming an additional suction channel (25).

A laser process for tissue treatment. Preferred embodiments include features for producing a first laser beam and a second laser beam and a skin cooler for cooling the surface of a region of skin. The system is designed to utilize the first laser beam for heating a volume of skin tissue below the cooled surface region to a temperature below skin tissue damage threshold. This volume of skin tissue is called a “thermal cavity”. The second laser beam is divided into a plurality of separate laser beams that are directed through separate optical fibers and via separate paths through skin tissue to a single tiny volume of skin tissue within the thermal cavity to heat that tiny volume to a temperature above the damage threshold. The invention discloses a quick tissue treatment reagent for a pathological section. The quick tissue treatment reagent is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 60 to 150 parts of propylene glycol or isopropanol, 5 to 30 parts of dodecyl ethoxy sulfonyl betaine or sorbitan laurate, 10 to 40 parts of acetone, 1 to 15 parts of carrageenan, 1 to 10 parts of sodium chloride, 1 to 8 parts of an anticoagulant, 0.5 to 10 parts of amine, 1 to 15 parts of glacial acetic acid and 20 to 100 parts of distilled water. The quick tissue treatment reagent is obtained by respectively weighing all the raw materials, putting various types of liquid into a flask in sequence, putting an electromagnetic stick into the liquid, and carrying out stirring on an electromagnetic oven for 15 to 40 minutes. The quick tissue treatment reagent disclosed by the invention can complete fixing, dewatering and clarification one-step treatment on a pathological tissue, so that the diagnosis speed is increased, and a result can be obtained after 3 to 5 hours; the pain of a patient waiting to see a doctor is greatly relieved, and a clinical doctor can take corresponding treatment measures in time. The quick tissue treatment reagent does not contain formaldehyde and benzene, so that the harm to the health of technical personnel of the pathology department and the pollution to the environment are greatly reduced.

A surgical instrument includes an end effector assembly having first and second jaw members each jaw member defining an opposed surface. The jaw members are movable between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue within a grasping area. First and second tissue-treating plates are disposed on the jaw members and adapted to connect to a source of energy for treating tissue disposed within a tissue-treating. Each jaw member defines a knife channel positioned within the grasping area and outside of the tissue-treating area. A tissue treatment device has a flexible treatment portion that includes one or more parts and holes arranged in an openwork. A treatment area is defined in the openwork.
