Embodiment Construction

[0024] All figures are schematic and not drawn to scale, they only show details which are important for understanding the invention, while other details have been omitted for the sake of overview. In all figures, the same reference numerals are used for the same or corresponding parts.

[0025] Figure 1 shows a closure 1 of a block carton prior to folding. In the embodiment shown, the cover 1 is made of multi-layer cardboard and is configured for freezing fish. The inside of the cardboard and its outside are surface treated as described in more detail below.

[0026] The cover 1 consists of a front side panel 2 which is connected along one side thereof to a rectangular base panel 3 . In addition, the base plate 3 is connected with the side plates 4 , 5 at both ends and the rear side plate 6 . The rear side panel 6 is in turn connected to a rectangular cover panel 7 which has cover side flaps 8 , 9 along its sides and is connected to a cover flap 10 along its front edge.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a cover for a block carton, wherein a surface is coated with a coating in order to thereby control the water permeability through that surface. In accordance with the invention a cover for a block carton is provided. Wherein a surface is coated with a varnish in a water-insoluble form. This means that it will be possible to print on the packaging following application thereon of the finish, thereby enabling more rationalised and flexible production. If both the sides of the cover are covered with finish, the options of recycling the cardboard material used for the cover will be increased.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a closure for a block carton in which a coating is applied to the surface in order to control the penetration of water through the surface. Background technique [0002] Block cartons are used for packaging fresh food products before freezing, for example, in the fish processing industry for freezing fish or fish products in blocks. Block cartons are conventionally produced as flat covers with pre-embossed fold lines. In the industry, such closures are known as "fish block liners" or "blanks". The cover consists of a base panel with front and rear panels and two opposing end panels, also called end panels; one of the panels, typically the rear panel, is attached to one side of the cover panel; The cover panel may be provided with one or more flaps along the remaining sides of the closure. In order to ensure that the carton is as closed as possible when standing (folded) in the freezer frame, the side panels may be pr...
