Problems solved by technology

[0004] A disadvantage of the known devices for shaving hair and the known shaving heads used therein is that when the shaving head is moved over the skin in the cutting direction, the skin will be in front of the cutting edge due to the cutting edge being exerted on the skin. raised by the pressure on the skin, which depends on the pressure with which the user presses the shaving head against the skin
As a result, there is a considerable risk of skin irritation and skin damage

Embodiment Construction

[0030] Figure 1 schematically shows a device 1 for shaving hair according to the invention. The device 1 comprises a base part 3 comprising an elongated hollow cylinder 5 shown in the embodiment. The cylinder 5 has a handle 7 for the user to hold the device 1 during operation. The device 1 also comprises a shaving head 9 according to the invention having two sides 11 , 13 and a bottom 15 connecting the sides 11 , 13 to each other. The sides 11 , 13 are connected to the cylinder 5 via couplings 16 . In the illustrated embodiment, the shaving head 9 can be disengaged from the coupling 16 and from the cylinder 5 using a mechanism not shown in FIG. 1 so that the shaving head 9 can be disengaged from the cylinder as it wears 5 is removed, and a new shaving head can be attached to the cylinder 5. However, it should be noted that the present invention also includes embodiments in which the shaving head cannot be disengaged from the base portion.

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for shaving hair (93) and to a shaving head (9) used therein. The shaving head (9) has at least one cutting member (17, 19) having a cutting edge (23) and a cutting direction (X), and the device has an actuator (29) for effecting a periodical motion of said cutting member relative to a base portion (3) of the device. According to the invention said periodical motion is effected in an imaginary plane which extends transversely to the cutting edge (23) and which has a first motion portion (89) and a second motion portion (91) following the first motion portion. The first motion portion is mainly directed in the cutting direction (X), and the second motion portion is mainly directed opposite to the cutting direction and is closer to the skin (93) than the first motion portion. Said periodical motion results in a reduced risk of skin irritations and skin injuries and provides a smooth shaving result. In a particular embodiment the periodical motion is an elliptical motion with a major axis (85) extending mainly in the cutting direction (X) and with a minor axis (87) extending mainly in a Z-direction which is perpendicular to the cutting direction and the cutting edge (23).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device for shaving hair, comprising a base portion with a handle, at least one cutting member with a cutting edge and a cutting direction, and a device for making the cutting member realize a periodic movement relative to the base portion driver. [0002] The invention also relates to a shaving head suitable for use in a device for shaving hair, said shaving head comprising at least one cutting element with a cutting edge and a cutting direction and an A coupling member for coupling to a base portion of the device, the base portion including a drive for performing a periodic movement of the cutting member relative to the base portion. Background technique [0003] A hair-shaving device of the above-mentioned type comprising a shaving head of the above-mentioned type is known from US-A-2,054,418. The shaving head of this known device comprises a blade-shaped cutting element. The drive of this known device comprises ...
