Abstract

A motor / generator (1) comprises a cylindrical stator core (5) facing the outer periphery of a rotor (3) on the inside of a housing (2). Substrates (8) made of electrically insulating material are laminated on both ends of the stator core (5). A plurality of coils (7) are wound on a laminate including a stator core (5) and a substrate (8). A cooling jacket (6) is mounted on each base plate (8) with bonding members (6F, 6G, 8D, 8E, 10, 15) to encapsulate the protrusions of the coil (7). The end plates (2B, 2C) of the housing (2) hold the cooling jacket (6) and press it against the stator core (5). Therefore, the cooling jacket (6) is fixed at a predetermined position inside the casing (2) without forming a flange for fixing the cooling jacket (6).
