The invention is directed to low molecular weight, polymeric moisture reactive compositions that function as useful polymeric reactive diluents for structural adhesives, including but not limited to reactive hot melts, to extend the working time of the structural adhesives without adversely affecting creep.

Background technique [0002] Structural adhesives such as reactive hot melts are limited by their working time, green strength and creep rate when producing bonded laminates. Small molecular weight organic compounds, including VOCs, known as reactive diluents, are used to extend the working time of structural adhesives by keeping them fluid. Conventional reactive diluents have many limitations, namely they are not only physiologically harmful, but also have a unique characteristic unpleasant taste and odor.
