Embodiment Construction
[0023] As previously mentioned, the present invention relates to a method and system for determining the CDV of hydrocarbons in a multiphase environment where the oil and gas phases are not immiscible. The method and system include calculating the total hydrocarbon volume from the apparent oil volume and the apparent gas volume. Apparent oil volume was determined using C / O data from a nuclear logging tool operating in the inelastic neutron scattering mode. Apparent gas volume was determined using neutron porosity data from a nuclear logging tool operating in pulsed neutron capture ("PNC") mode. The total hydrocarbon volume may also be determined using well log data from formation thermal neutron capture cross section measurements, or cased hole formation resistivity tools, or using any other suitable technique known to those skilled in the art. This total hydrocarbon volume is then used to inversely calculate the total hydrocarbon CDV at various formation depths using the wel...
