Abstract

Methods and systems for accessing memory using secondary memory are presented. According to the invention, a store instruction and a subsequent load instruction accessing the same memory location are identified and the time difference is determined. The store instruction includes a flag indicating the time interval that elapses until the data element stored by the store instruction is first loaded by the load operation. Depending on the flag, the store instruction can either directly access main memory or be transferred to main memory through secondary storage.
