[0059] Example: Testing of Syringe Devices with Surfactants
[0060] In this test, Bausch & Lomb's Akreos Adapt lens was used with a syringe of the type shown in Figures 1 and 2 . Syringe parts are made of PFA. The process is described below. The lens 30 (with optical powers ranging from +10.0d to +23.5d) is immersed in the surfactant for a few seconds and then loaded into the holder 16 which is then positioned at the distal portion within 14. The distal portion 14 with the loader 16 and the lens 30 seated therein are placed in the surfactant solution for several minutes. The proximal part 12, in which the plunger 20 is inserted, is connected to the distal part 14, and the expulsion of the lens 30 is detected. Focus on qualitatively judging the ease of expulsion by the force required. All reported surfactant concentrations are expressed as percent by weight.
[0061]Drainage is easy for +11.0 d-power lenses using 1% Polysorbate 80 solution; +10 d-power lenses and +21.0 d...
