However, this has a disadvantage; the increased length will prevent the ventilator from fitting into smaller windows
Likewise, an increase in width will result in a larger window area and will require significant investment by the window company

Embodiment Construction

[0040] The trunking ventilator 1 of Figures 1 and 2 is of the type used in a window or door frame in the form of a trunking. The slot ventilator 1 consists of an elongated backing member 10 having a generally rectangular slot-shaped cross-section defined from the front side 12 of the backing member 10 to the back side (not shown in FIG. 2 ). Go out elongated slot 40. The slot ventilator 1 also includes a facing strip 50 for covering the slot 40 when the ventilator 1 is closed. The facing strip 50 comprises an elongated plate having peripheral dimensions slightly larger than the dimensions of the groove 40 so that in the closed position as shown in FIG. 1 the facing strip 50 contacts the front face 12 of the backing member 10 and seals the groove 40 .

[0041] The facing strip 50 includes a longitudinal side 51 (as shown in FIG. 4 a ), a back side 60 facing the backing member 10 , and a front side 65 . The latch 20 disposed on the front face 65 enables a user to move the faci...

Abstract

A slot ventilator comprises a mounting member, a facing strip and a connection system connecting the backing member and facing strip with one another, the connection system being arranged to permit movement of the facing strip between at least a first position and a second position in which the slot is open, the facing strip comprising opposing longitudinal sides. The connection system is arranged to permit the facing strip to move with a lateral component of movement which is across the facing strip transverse to the longitudinal sides.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a trunking ventilator for example for use in rooms having sealed windows or double or single glazed windows or doors and where it is desired to provide ventilation without opening the windows or doors. Background technique [0002] Proposed new building codes require that trunking ventilators be specified based on performance based on measurements of the ventilator's effective air path. Accordingly, it is desirable to increase the capacity of existing wireway ventilators to achieve improved ventilator performance. [0003] In known wireway ventilators that include a mounting member and a facing strip that translates between a closed position and an open position, the facing strip can be tilted to open the airflow path through the wireway. [0004] One way to achieve increased capacity is to increase the physical size of the ventilator trunking. However, this has a disadvantage; the increased length will prevent the ve...
