Embodiment Construction

[0029] Referring to Figures 1-8, the instrument comprises a main body 1, two arms 2, 3 and a sleeve element 3.1.

[0030] The body 1 is a steel straight blade with a rectangular cross-section and therefore two minor and two major sides.

[0031] The first arm 2 is fixed on one end of the body 1 and has a hook 2.1 on the end not fixed on the body 1 . The first arm 2 is perpendicular to the main body 1 . The longitudinal axis x-x of the hook 2.1 is perpendicular to the first arm 2. The hook 2.1 has a rounded tip. Arm 2 is fixed on the smaller side of body 1 . The second arm 3 is fixed on a sleeve element 3 . 1 with a rectangular cross-section, which slides on the body 1 . Introduction of the sleeve element 3 . On the sleeve element 3.1 is fixed an arm 3 positioned such that its longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the main body 1 and rests on the same minor side of the main body 1 .

[0032] Likewise, the arm 3 fixed to the sleeve element 3.1 has ...

Abstract

The instrument include a body (1) consisting of a steel blade, two arms (2,3) and a sleeve member (3.1) whiqh glides on body (1); the first arm (2) is fixed on an end of the body (1); the second arm (3) is fixed to the sleeve member (3.1); both the arms (2,3) are perpendicular to the body (1) and have on their extremities a hook (2.1 , 3.2) with a rounded point; the two hooks (2.1 , 3.2) mirror each other and have opposite concavity; the sleeve member (3.1) has an auto-blocking system that inhibits autonomous sliding along body (1); both the hooks (2.1 , 3.2), once under tension, grab the skin bringing together the lips of the wound for stitching in a precise and symmetric manner avoiding folds and overlap.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to surgical instruments, and more particularly to stretching devices for suturing the skin and subcutaneous layers. Background technique [0002] A problem that has been noted in the field of surgery is to achieve a perfect suture of the subcutaneous layer and the skin in terms of avoiding infection and unsightly scarring. It is therefore necessary to have the edges of the wound perfectly aligned before and during suturing. This alignment is currently accomplished by an assistant using both hands or two hooks (one in each hand) to pull on the ends of the wound to stretch the skin and cause the wound edges to come together. It is very uncomfortable for the surgical assistant to keep the wound edges in steady alignment for the time necessary to complete the suturing. In addition, using an assistant is also a waste of human resources. Obviously if the surgeon is alone during closure of the wound, suturing can only be done ...
