A three-dimensional heterometallic coordination polymer and a preparation method thereof relate to the coordination chemistry field. The invention adopts imidazole-4, 5-dicarboxylic acid and acetic acid as coordinators and adopts samarium ions and manganese ions as atoms to prepare the coordination polymer, (SmMn2(HIMDC)(CH3COO)(H2O))n, by changing the molar ratio of each substance and with a hydrothermal (solvothermal) synthesis technology.
