The invention relates to a method and a device for receiving and playing multimedia programs through a mobile terminal, which is used for a terminal to switch from the mode of receiving and playing multimedia broadcast programs from a broadcast network to downloading corresponding stream media data from a switched network. The method comprises the following steps: searching target equipment information of corresponding stream media data according to information of a current program of the broadcast network and acquiring position information to be played after switching the current program when the terminal needs switching; and downloading the corresponding stream media data to be played in the current program from the target equipment to perform playing. The method is implemented through providing corresponding devices. When the continuous reception effect is influenced by poor signals when the terminal receives and plays the multimedia broadcast programs through the broadcast network, the method can automatically switch or manually switch the terminal to a mobile interactive network to download the stream media with the same content for continuous playing, thus the reception experience of users can be improved as far as possible.
