[0034] In this disclosure, the complements of different distribution functions are discussed. is defined as follows. The complement of the cumulative distribution function F is defined as 1 minus the cumulative distribution function F. In e.g. the cumulative error distribution function In the case of , the complement of the cumulative error distribution function becomes 1 - F Δx ( t ′ | t ′ ) ( x - x ^ P ...

Abstract

A method for noise rise estimation in a wireless communications system is presented, which comprises measuring of samples of at least received total wideband power. From the measured samples of at least received total wideband power, a probability distribution (800) for a first power quantity is estimated. This first power quantity can be the received total wideband power itself. The probability distribution (800) for the first power quantity is used for computing a conditional probability distribution (803) of a noise floor measure. This computing is performed recursively. A value of a noiserise measure is finally calculated based on the conditional probability distribution for the noise floor measure. A node of a wireless communications system having the above functionality is also presented. Typically, the node is a RNC.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to methods and apparatus for estimating power related quantities in cellular communication systems, in particular for estimating the noise floor. Background technique [0002] Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) telecommunication systems have many attractive features that can be used in the development of future telecommunication services. A specific technical challenge in systems such as WCDMA and similar is the scheduling of enhanced uplink channels to time intervals, where interference conditions are favorable and where sufficient capacity exists in the uplink of the cell in question to support enhanced uplink channel. It is well known that all users in the cell contribute interference level to the uplink of the WCDMA system. Furthermore, terminals in neighboring cells also contribute the same interference level. This is because when using CDMA technology, all user and common channels of a cell a...
