Abstract

The invention discloses an image data compression system, comprising an image acquisition device, a compression format converter, a compression buffer memory register, a storage device and a compression ratio controller, wherein, the compression ratio controller comprises a buffer memory space computation module, an image data computation module and a compression ratio control module, and the compression ratio controller automatically adjusts compression ratio by comparing the proportional values of the buffer memory space used by the compressed image data and the compression buffer register with the proportional values of the compressed original image data and the whole original image data, thus avoiding too much compression time consumption due to the problem that the compression ratio is readjusted after the space of the compression buffer memory register is filled in the compressing process.
