PURPOSE: A roll grinding method is provided to maintain good circularity of a back roll, thereby applying uniform thickness of fluid over a web. CONSTITUTION: A roll grinding method is as follows. The center of a first roll(17) is adjusted. The outer circumference of the first roll and both bearing parts(17b) are ground with a grinder(1) so that the circularity of the first roll at the room temperature is within 25 micron meters or less. A bearing(7) and a bearing housing(9) are attached to the bearing parts and the bearing housing is fixed to a base(5). A second roll having a circularity of 3 micron meters or less and equipped with a grinding unit on the circumference is rotated to press and grind the circumference(17c) of the first roll.
