Abstract

The invention relates to a multipurpose infrared device and a display device using the same. The display device comprises a display panel and a multipurpose infrared device, wherein the multipurpose infrared device comprises an infrared light-emitting diode transmitter, an infrared receiver and a microcontroller. The infrared light-emitting diode transmitter is used for transmitting infrared rays. The infrared receiver is used for receiving the infrared rays. The microcontroller controls the infrared light-emitting diode transmitter and the infrared receiver in a way of time-division multiplexing so as to achieve the purposes of sensing the distance, remotely receiving the infrared rays and detecting ambient brightness.
