Problems solved by technology

Still further, the inventors have recognized that one of the greatest differences between testers during game testing is their video game skill, and therefore, the inventors believe it would be desirable to provide a method and system for game testing in which Use the same testers to play the video game or portion of the game after making changes to the game so that differences in skill do not skew game testing results (e.g., a group of game testers may have a higher Average skill level, which encourages developers to make the game (or a specific move / quest / feature / action) harder, but a second group of playtesters later on may have a lower average skill level, meaning that after this change The game is less fun because it's too hard (and vice versa))

Embodiment Construction

[0113] Briefly, embodiments of the present invention are concerned with methods and systems for managing communications in a video game development system or network. Specifically, a game development system or network is described that provides a central hub communication application for establishing communication interface(s) between each tool and different game platforms in the development system or network, to alleviate the processing overhead, usage complexity, and maintenance requirements for each game development tool used by game developers. The hub communication application (or the server running the application) acts as a hub through which messages pass, which extracts (or determines) the recipients of messages sent by the development tool and sends them to Recipients in the game development system or network deliver content (e.g., game data such as altered game logic to be used by the game engine on the platform, game data such as new characters or objects in 3D mode...

Abstract

A video game development system for enhancing communications between development tools and video game platforms or running games. The system includes a communications hub module running on a computer or server and communicatively linked with first and second video game platforms to allow the communications hub module to forward messages to and receive messages from the game platforms. Memory accessible by the communications hub module stores communication data sets or libraries controlling communications with the game platforms. A video game development tool is provided in the system and is communicatively linked with the communications hub module, The development tool transmits messages formatted based on a client-side communications library defining communications with the hub module. The hub module receives the transmitted messages, generates game platform messages from the received messages based on the platform communication libraries, and forwards the game platform messages to the first and second video game platforms.
