Embodiment Construction

[0023] Below through specific embodiment in conjunction with accompanying drawing 1 to Figure 5 For further details.

[0024] The present invention provides systems and methods for monitoring electrocardiogram (ECG) signal and respiration rate.

[0025] In one embodiment, the method for monitoring a patient's respiration rate includes setting an ECG electrode and a patient pressure sensor on the patient, obtaining the first breathing signal according to the signal change amount obtained by monitoring the ECG electrode set on the patient, and obtaining the first breathing signal according to the pressure on the patient. The pressure change gauge of the sensor obtains the second breathing signal. The method also includes selecting at least one signal from the first respiration signal and the second respiration signal based on the quality of the respective signals and deriving the respiration rate from this signal. The method also includes displaying indicia representing the r...

Abstract

A method for monitoring the respiration rate of a patient includes attaching a plurality of electrocardiogram (ECG) electrodes and a pressure sensor to a patient, producing a first respiration signal based on variations detected in signals provided by the ECG electrodes attached to the patient, and producing a second respiration signal based on pressure variations detected in the pressure sensor secured to the patient. The method also includes selecting at least one of the first respiration signal and the second respiration signal based on respective signal qualities and producing a respiration rate from the selected signal. The method also includes providing indicia of the respiration rate. The method may also include displaying ECG signals with the indicia of the respiration rate.

Description

【Technical field】 [0001] The present invention relates to a patient monitoring system, and more particularly to an apparatus and method for continuously monitoring a patient's heart and breathing rate. 【Background technique】 [0002] Generally speaking, a patient monitor monitors a patient's heart status by detecting ECG signals and the patient's respiratory rate. The electrical waves that make the heart muscle pump blood create voltages that are detected by electrodes glued to the patient's skin. Electrodes at different places on the heart measure the movement of different parts of the heart muscle. An ECG signal represents the voltage between pairs of electrodes (leads) in different directions. Therefore, the ECG signal is used to identify the general rhythm of the heart as well as abnormalities occurring in different parts of the heart. [0003] Several techniques are used to obtain the respiration signal from the ECG leads. For example, beat-to-beat variations in the...
