In image shooting using a self timer on an apparatus, the apparatus allows a user to control continuous shooting of a plurality of frames of images according to the user's desire. In image shooting using a self timer on the apparatus, the apparatus changes a timing of starting image shooting by self timer for a second image and beyond to be continuously shot according to detected faces of persons. The apparatus notifies the user that the timing for starting the image shooting by self timer is currently calculated. With this configuration, the user can control the timing of shooting images by continuous shooting.
