Abstract

The invention provides a method for switching a master mode and a slave mode of an encryption card and the encryption card. The encryption card comprises a power module, a detection module and a mode switching module, wherein the power module detects the power supply situation of a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) or a PCI express (PCIE) interface, and automatically supplies power to the encryption card if the PCI or the PCIE interface cannot be supplied with power; the detection module detects whether a host fails or not, and if the host fails, transmits a mode switching request to the mode switching module; after receiving the mode switching request from the detection module, the mode switching module switches the operating mode of the encryption card from the slave mode to the master mode; and the encryption card independently works in the master mode and continues providing a service for application. Under the condition of normal working of the host, the encryption card exchanges data with the external application through the host, and the host and the encryption card perform own functions, namely, the host functions in the reception and transmission of the data and the like and the encryption card only functions in encryption so as to ensure relatively higher working efficiency; and when the host fails, the encryption card can dynamically switch own operating mode from the slave mode to the master mode and work independently to continue providing the service for the application and ensure the quality of service when the host fails.
