In order to solve the problem that tensioning and torque detection mechanisms are needed to be designed and arranged respectively in the process of performing a performance test on a belt drive water pump, reduce the complexity of a mechanical mechanism, and reduce the cost, the invention adopts a design mode of a motor floating mechanism; and during tensioning operation of a water pump belt, the driving torque of a motor is indirectly detected under different working conditions through application of an S-type tension / compression force sensor.
