Embodiment Construction

[0050] figure 1 A schematic perspective view of a device 40 according to the invention for checking printed products 16 is shown. The device 40 has a page discrimination sensor 42, referred to below as BIS. The BIS 42 consists of an image capture chip in the form of a digital camera 21 with optics and an illumination device 29 as well as an evaluation computer located in the control and evaluation device 28 . In this embodiment of the invention, the BIS 42 with the lighting device 29 , the digital camera 21 and the evaluation computer is accommodated in a common sensor housing 43 .

[0051] The BIS 42 is integrated or attached to the machine for conveying printed products in such a way that the printed products 16 to be checked in the form of sheets 17 are guided along the conveying direction A next to the BIS 42 , wherein the digital camera 21 operates at different Printed matter 16 is collected on the position 19 of. For this purpose, the printed product 16 is placed on a...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for checking print products of the same kind, particularly printed paper sheets of the same kind, which are transported by a transport unit. For this purpose, during a teach-in phase, test images are taken at several points of the print product using a digital camera. The test images taken, or parts thereof, are evaluated with respect to the characteristic information thereof, and the test image having the most characteristic information is selected as the reference image. In order to check print products of the same kind, the subsequent print products of the same kind are checked by taking at least one image at a position that corresponds to the reference image and by comparing it to the image data of the reference image. This check is carried out with a device, comprising a digital camera for taking test images of the print product, an illumination device for illuminating the print product, an input for feeding a position signal, and a control and evaluating unit for controlling the digital camera and the illumination device and for evaluating image data of the digital camera. The invention further relates to a computer program and a computer program product.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for checking printed products, in particular printed sheets of the same type, which are conveyed by a conveying device. [0002] The invention also relates to a computer program and a computer program product. Background technique [0003] The inspection of printed matter for bookbinding machines is known from patent publications EP 1 586 462 A2 and EP 1 715 441 A2. When checking printed products for a book-binding machine, it is conceivable to check and identify the correct order of the printed products. This is done in a known manner by means of a digital camera and by means of recognition of identification symbols arranged successively on differently printed sheets. In this case, a printed image that differs from sheet to sheet can also serve as an identification symbol, which can be supplied to the bookbinding machine in the correct predetermined sequence. For this purpose, corresponding learning pr...
