Embodiment Construction

[0012] The present invention provides an address allocation system, device and method for allocating unique addresses to a plurality of modules connected to a bus. The address assignment system, apparatus and method can assign an address to a new module connected to the bus (for example, a hot swap module) after the initial address assignment. Each module is connected to the bus and via the bus to a central management unit. Each module is further connected to at least one other module (eg, a first module is connected to a second module).

[0013] figure 1 Shown is a block diagram of an address assignment system 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The address assignment system 100 includes a plurality of modules 102, each module 102 including modular circuitry. For example, the address allocation system 100 may include module 1, module 2, . . . , module n. For ease of description, a specific module is referred to as "module x" herein, where x is 1, 2, ...

Abstract

The invention provides an address allocation system, an address allocation device and an address allocation method, which are used for allocating addresses to a plurality of modules. The method at least comprises the following steps of: disabling the address allocation of the plurality of modules, wherein the plurality of modules are connected to a bus, at least comprise a first module connected to a second module and are identified through an initial address; enabling the address allocation of the first module; storing a new address in the first module; disabling the address allocation of the first module; and enabling the address allocation of the second module. By the address allocation system, the address allocation device and the address allocation method, manufacturing cost and time can be saved, namely only identical modules are needed to be produced during manufacturing, but each module can be independently accessed through the unique address of each module during operation.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a multi-module system, in particular to the address allocation technology of the multi-module system. Background technique [0002] Multiple modules can be connected to a bus. In order to be able to individually access each of the multiple modules, each module should have a unique identifier, such as an address. In some cases, the modules may be made identical during initial production, with an additional process step to give each module an individual address. For example, an array of switches can be used to set addresses for modules. In another embodiment, each resistor in the resistor array can be connected to VCC (eg, positive voltage supply) or VSS (eg, ground or negative voltage supply) to provide an address to the module. In another embodiment, the address of the module is stored in memory before the module is connected to the bus. [0003] In the foregoing embodiments, the addresses are set at the time of manufacture...
