The assembly comprises a transparent substrate, a thin-film solar cell positioned on the transparent substrate, transparent conductive layers positioned on the transparent substrate beside the thin-film solar cell, an electrochromic material covering exposed surfaces of the transparent conductive layers and the thin-film solar cell, a switching device, and a charge-discharge device coupled to the switching device. The first transparent conductive layer and a cathode layer of the thin-film solar cell respectively serve as an anode and a cathode of the electrochromic material simultaneously.
