Embodiment Construction

[0022] figure 1 A car is shown with an OBU (On Board Unit) including local storage for collecting data or storing map data. Additionally, this local storage can be used to store programs running on the OBU and to cache information that cannot be communicated over the wireless network. The OBU has a GPS receiver to receive GNSS from GPS satellites. Also, optical gyroscopes or accelerometers are installed to determine the behavior of the car and its speed. On a visual HMI (Human Machine Interface), the driver gets information about the actual emissions situation. This information can be presented on a digital map colored differently to indicate different emission situations. In a preferred embodiment, only the streets around the car's location are displayed. In another preferred embodiment, the OBU calculates an optimal route based on emission information provided by the communication server. In this calculation, not only the shortest road or possible detours are taken into...

Abstract

A method for traffic control by controlling traffic emission, using a communication server, which maintains a digital emission map in a storage device of a defined geographical region and which updates the emission map by external sources, comprising the steps: - providing data of the emission map to a onboard unit (OBU) in a car via a wireless network, - calculation of a alternative route by bypassing areas which are highly impacted by emissions, - tracking of the alternative route and transferring the tracking information to the communication server, - calculation of a digital bonus for digital payment by the communication server, and transferring the digital bonus to a digital account, the OBU or mobile device.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to methods and systems for traffic control and traffic pollution control. Additionally, systems and methods are proposed for tracking traffic and related pollution that encourage people to drive in low emission areas, thereby reducing traffic congestion and emissions in high emission areas. Background technique [0002] With the rapid development of urbanization and the rapid growth of the automobile industry, many cities in the world are facing traffic congestion and related CO 2 serious problem with emissions. Many large cities around the world are undergoing a phase of ultra-rapid urbanization; however, the patterns of ground use and street networks in these cities are not able to accommodate the proliferation of cars and trucks. Despite extensive public transportation systems, these cities are still experiencing a growing demand for cars and trucks that cannot be efficiently met by the available road network. [000...
