Problems solved by technology

Additionally, the cutting teeth slope up and forward to protrude beyond the collar, the cutting teeth get shorter each time they are sharpened and the cutting teeth are less effective at picking up the material to be cut and chipping
Since the cutting teeth are angled upwards and forwards, they are more prone to damage due to bending if they hit an object

Embodiment Construction

[0029] Such as Figure 1-3 As shown, the rotary cutter head 1 has a cylindrical drum 3 with an outer surface 5, which is rotatably mounted at its end. The drum may be mounted on the front of the motor vehicle or on the end of a boom carried by the motor vehicle. A known device not yet described is connected at one end to the drum 3 for rotating the drum about its longitudinal axis 7 .

[0030] A flat collar 9 with a circular inner edge 11 and an annular outer edge 13 is fixed to the outer surface 5 of the drum 3 . The circular inner edge 11 is only slightly larger than the diameter of the drum 3 at which the collar is welded to the drum surface 5 . The collars 9 generally extend transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis 7 of the drum 3 and are equally spaced along the length of the drum. The longest dimension of each collar along a line passing through the center of its circular inner rim 11 is about twice the diameter of the inner rim 11, and therefore about twice...

Abstract

A rotary cutter for a brush cutter. The cutter has a rotatable cylindrical drum with a plurality of flat, annular, collars mounted on the drum. The collars are fastened to the drum by their inner circular edge, are equally spaced apart on the drum, and extend transverse to the rotational axis of the drum. A cutting tooth mounting block is mounted between each adjacent pair of collars, the block located at the outer edge of the collars and spaced above the surface of the drum to provide a gap for passing chips and residue. The mounting block carries a detachable cutting tooth, the tooth extending forwardly generally tangentially from the block and terminating in a cutting edge above the collars.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a rotary cutter head for a bush cutter, and more particularly, the present invention aims to provide a rotary cutter head of the type using a cylindrical drum with removable cutting teeth and rotatable about its longitudinal axis To cut shrubs with cutting teeth. Background technique [0002] Known are rotary cutter heads for bush cutters having a cylindrical drum utilizing cutting teeth mounted directly on the drum surface. The cutting teeth are typically mounted on the drum by using cutting tooth mounting blocks secured to the surface of the drum. Typically, the cutting teeth are removably mounted on the front of the mounting block, with the cutting portion of the cutting teeth angled upwards and forwards. [0003] Bush cutters are used to operate over rough terrain and often run into rocks which can damage the cutting teeth as well as the mounting blocks on the drum, so at least the cutting teeth must be easily rep...
