Abstract

The invention discloses filter additive for reducing nitrosamines in cigarette smoke and application of the filter additive. The filter additive is one of protoporphyrin derivatives. The filter additive with 0.05-10% of carrier weight is suspended in solvent and is sprayed to a carrier, and the carrier with the added protoporphyrin derivative is added to a stranded filter stick in strand forming to make the compound filter. The filter additive has the advantages that the protoporphyrin derivative is provided initially and has an evident effect in lowering content of TSNAs (nitrosamines) in smoke.
