Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a system for multi-GM (Grand Master) equipment time synchronization in a packet transport network. The method comprises the following steps of: deploying a plurality of grand masters GM in a networking; and selecting one GM from a plurality of GMs to be tracked according to a pre-set time synchronization strategy by downstream equipment. The system comprises a GM deploying module and one or more downstream equipment, wherein the grand master GM deploying module is used for deploying the plurality of GMs in the networking; and the downstream equipment is used for selecting one GM from the plurality of GMs to be tracked according to the pre-set time synchronization strategy. According to the method and the system disclosed by the invention, a multi-GM time synchronization manner concept is introduced and the downstream equipment does not rigidly track the same GM at the same time, so that the networking limiting problem caused by a single-GM time synchronization manner and the problem that a time accumulated error of the downstream equipment is large in the large-sized networking can be solved; and the flexibility of the networking is increased and the time synchronization performance of the equipment is improved.
