Abstract

A digital offset inking system includes an ink chamber that contains ink, and deposits ink onto an inking member. Excess deposited ink is removed from the surface of the inking member. The inking member transfers the ink directly to a conformable surface of an imaging member.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to direct inking to digital offset printing plates. In particular, the present disclosure relates to ghost-free inking systems for direct inking of digital offset printing plates, such as with anilox rolls. Background technique [0002] The ink supply system is designed to transfer ink to the offset printing plate. The ink supply system can be keyed or non-keyed. The ink supply system may be a conventional offset type printing system, or a digital offset plate printing system. [0003] Related art ink supply systems suffer from ghosting problems. In an ink supply system, the transferred ink may be deposited in one layer. The layer may have regions of varying thickness. Ghosting occurs due to the thinner ink layer in certain areas where the image was previously transferred. Thinner areas of ink in the ink layer generally result in corresponding lighter areas in the image print. [0004] In related art systems, espec...
