Abstract

Revision hip implants and prosthesis systems include femoral heads, cups, screws, bridges, and segmental prostheses for revision surgeries.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a revision implant and prosthetic system, and more particularly, to a revision implant for deformities of the hip joint and related complex hip joint systems. Background technique [0002] The hip provides vital mobility and overall life satisfaction for patients of all ages. However, due to injury, degeneration, previous surgery, disease, etc., the hip joint can be damaged, broken, degenerated, and destroyed to the point where surgical correction is necessary. Typically, surgical correction includes removal of the autogenous femoral head and replacement with a prosthetic implant as well as replacement of both the femoral head and the acetabulum. It also usually involves replacing the pelvis's native acetabulum with a prosthetic acetabular cup. [0003] In some cases, an implanted prosthesis may malfunction for any of a variety of reasons including, for example, failure or damage to the implant, poor tissue healing, s...
