Embodiment Construction

[0046] Referring to the drawings, 1 generally denotes a device for determining the body temperature of at least one subject S.

[0047] In particular, said devices are often referred to as thermal imaging cameras or thermographic cameras, and are dedicated television cameras that are sensitive to infrared radiation and capable of obtaining thermal imagery or movies.

[0048] In other words, the device is capable of acquiring images at least in the infrared range and is capable of two-dimensional visualization of radiometric results.

[0049] Generally, thermal imaging cameras are used for non-destructive and non-invasive control when detecting radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum, and the measurements made are related to the emission of the radiation.

[0050] In particular, thermal imaging cameras are able to detect the temperature of the analyzed human body by means of the measurement of the infrared intensity emitted by the examined body.

Abstract

A method for determining a body temperature of a patient or subject is disclosed, in which a contactless infrared thermometer is manually positioned such as to point at a target area, and by activating the thermometer such that it measures the internal temperature of a patient and reads, via the thermometer, and for a predetermined time interval, the intensity of an infrared radiation in arrival from the target area. The target area is a body surface of a human or animal patient selected from a body location group comprising the ethmoid sinus, the canthus, the open eyelid or the closed eyelid.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for measuring the body temperature of at least one subject. Background technique [0002] In particular, the method and device are especially suitable for measuring the body temperature of a plurality of subjects in or passing through a defined area, such as a transit area in an airport or a room in a hospital, or another public area. On the other hand, the present method enables reliable detection of the temperature of many objects in cold environments or from environments of unknown temperature. [0003] It is known that in recent years the need to be able to measure the body temperature of multiple subjects rapidly and non-invasively has been considered of considerable importance. [0004] Increased and widespread fear of epidemics (eg, SARS, avian or swine flu) necessitates more effective control of passing subjects, especially those entering defined businesses, areas or locations. [0005] Take the ...
