The invention relates to a mobile phone backlight control method which comprising the steps of triggering a sensor or a camera on a mobile phone to detect current environment luminance brightness according to an incoming call event or a key action event; adjusting a luminance value of a screen of the mobile phone according to the environment luminance brightness, wherein the higher the environment luminance brightness is, the higher the luminance value of the screen of the mobile phone is; and adjusting a display image of the screen of the mobile phone according to the environment luminance brightness, wherein the high the environment luminance brightness is, the higher an adjusting value is, and the adjusting value comprises a contrast adding value to low brightness pixel and a contrast lowering value to high brightness pixel. According to the mobile phone backlight control method, ambient light induction and image gray scale processing are merged together, ambient light, the displayscreen, backlight of the display screen and backlight of a keyboard are designed into a system, and the dynamic control of the system is conducted by a multipath and efficient adjusting method, so that the power consumption of the backlight is reduced to the largest extent on the premise of not influencing display effect and improving the experience of a user.
