According to the startup method, in a set-top box starting process, screen pictures in starting processes of a bootstrap program and an application program of the set-top box can adopt a resolution set by a user, and when the application program is started at the very beginning, the screen picture is continuously displayed at the resolution set by the user and display output is not closed, so that a television is not flickered in a set-top box starting process; therefore, a coherent picture and a user-friendly interactive style are provided for the user.
